4 months, 2 countries and what it cost us…

Exactly four months ago we said goodbye to our lives as we knew them and jumped on a plane to Buenos Aires, Argentina. After 121 days on the road and two countries officially behind us, we’d like to share with you what this means in terms of finances. While preparing for our trip, we thought it was a great help to be able to read about it on other travel blogs. We hope we can help some future travellers get an idea of what travelling in South America might cost.

Stars and sand

San Pedro de Atacama is our last stop before we head into our third country – Bolivia. San Pedro is a bit similar to Pucon (a lot of tours and adventure), but this time it’s in the desert (the Atacama desert). Imagine dust, adobe houses, and lots of sunshine.

On Happy Hill

A 1,5 hour bus ride from Santiago lies Valparaíso, a city with a reputation. A good one that is. About every Chileno we’ve met spoke highly of this colorful city on the hills. Christophe carried a picture of it as it’s cell phone background. It was time we found out if it could live up to its reputation.

Santiago en de Maipo vallei

Met Santiago deden we eindelijk de tweede hoofdstad op onze trip aan, en met een gemiddelde temperatuur van 30 graden, beloofde ook dit weer een topper te worden.

Fotopost: Hydrospeed in Pucón

In Pucón deden we ook hydrospeed, een beetje raften, maar dan zonder boot en met een drijfplank. De rapids (stroomversnellingen) zijn van niveau 2 en 3, heftig als je zo in het water drijft.

Jolien drijft op een oranje plank, ik op één van de vele blauwe.
